Today, students were both detectives and sketch artists! Detectives looked at a picture on the board while sketch artists faced the opposite direction and tried to draw the picture based on the descriptions!

As you can see, they were VERY descriptive!

Matter Day was awesome! The kids and I really enjoyed ourselves, sorting all types of matter during various activities. Also, we ended our day making a beverage with all 3 states of matter - ROOT BEER FLOATS!

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Each student is assigned the title of Peanut Butter or Jelly. These two form the perfect partnership! We then worked with our partners creating numbers with digits, trying to create the largest numbers.

End of the Year

It wasn't easy saying goodbye to everyone today. I would like to thank all of my students for their hard work and their parents for their dedication. This year was a challenge for us all and we exceeded the expectations of everyone! From our amazing reading gains to the 4 MILLION WORDS that we read this year, the students in our class were simply amazing. I wish you all the best of luck in the 3rd grade and beyond. See ya July 10th!

This week TEAM BUSSEY reached our new goal of reading 2,000,000 words!  We are currently in first place for 2nd grade.

(We are even ahead of many 3rd and 4th grade classes!  5th graders better WATCH OUT! We're coming for you!)

MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS

A few of our class MVPs (known to most as Students of the Month) showed up for a Literacy Festival at CPE and put on a GREAT show!  They represented 2nd grade very well and also earned $5 Bussey Bucks for their participation.  I'm trying to find the video footage of it, so if you have it PLEASE let me know! :-)


We performed a portion of our Calendar Math that we do each morning.  It has been called by Principal Shelton, "The epitome of organized chaos."  If you haven't seen it, feel free to come check us out!

Making Arrays with Shaving Cream

We had an awesome time making arrays and practicing our multiplication facts using shaving cream!

BOOK NOOKS!

Book Nooks are all about comfort!  Students are given books that are right on their reading level and read quietly in a special place anywhere (and I do mean ANYWHERE) in the classroom.
